How to make mani kozhukattai




MANI KOZHUKATTAI

Ingredients needed
For kozhukattai

Rice flour - 1tumbler (250 gm)
Water - 1/2 tumbler
Salt - 2 pinch
Cooking Oil
For poornam

Urad dhal - 1/2 tumbler (125 gm)
Thur dhal - 1 spoon
Dry Red Chilly - 2
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 2-3 tsp (chopped)
Cooriander leaves - 2-3 tsp (chopped)
Cooking Oil
Salt - as required
Asafoetida powder

Part 1: Preparation of Poornam

1. Soak urad and thur dhal for 15-20 mins
2. Grind dhal,salt & chilly to 3/4 consistency (not like a paste)
3. Steam boil it (like idly)
4. After it gets cooked, allow it to warm down and then dissociate it (like making bread into flour)

Part 2: Preparation of kozhukattai

1. Now take a kadai (non-stick preferable) and heat it. Pour water, add salt and oil (2-3 tsp). Add 2. only little salt since we have added enough salt already in poornam
3. Add rice flour little by little and mix it continuosly and evenly
4. Keep in low flame and mix till it become light yellow colour
5. Now take the half-baked flour and make small small balls. Its good to apply some oil in your hands while making these small balls
6. Steam boil these balls.

Part 3: Mixing kozhukattai & Poornam

1. Heat some oil in a kadai
2. Mix the boiled kozhukattai and poornam
3. Add curry leaves and corriander leaves
4. Add a bit asafoetida powder

Serve the dish hot and enjoy it!
